Farm Fencing FAQs
How long before my farm fence project can start?
Once you sign the contract, Thomas Fence typically starts your project within 1–3 weeks. We call 811 before any digging — state law requires a 3-day utility locate window before post setting can begin. For large rural properties, the total installation timeline depends on linear footage and site conditions.
What's the best fence for horses?
Horses need a fence that provides a clear visual barrier without injury risk. Non-climb woven wire with a top board or rail is the most common solution — horses can see it clearly and won't get legs caught in the mesh. Board fencing (2- or 3-rail) is excellent for smaller paddocks and arenas. We recommend against barbed wire for horse enclosures due to injury risk.
Can you fence a large rural property?
Yes. Thomas Fence handles agricultural fencing projects of all sizes across Northwest Arkansas — from small backyard animal runs to large multi-acre ranch perimeters. We provide detailed estimates based on linear footage and terrain, and our crews are equipped for large-scale rural work.
